If a person does not fast, they must make up as many fasts as they omitted. If they break the fast deliberately and without clear cause, then kaffarah is obligatory upon them in addition: fasting for sixty consecutive days, or feeding sixty poor people, or giving one mudd (750 grams) of food to each of sixty poor people.
